Tim is the lead first aid trainer at Hands On Heart Training. An experienced professional with two decades in the emergency services sector and over 13 years in the international education and training sector.
My journey began during my time at Stokesley School where I worked as a life-guard at the local swimming pool. It was there that I first began to learn about first aid and how important it is for us to know these life saving skills.
After graduating from Lancaster University and the University of Cape Coast (Ghana) - I moved to North Carolina, USA, where I trained and worked as a Wilderness First Responder before returning to the UK and joining the Fire and Rescue Service.
Alongside my role as a firefighter, I have delivered first aid training to media personnel, sports clubs and gyms, schools, NGO's, charities, factories, offices and more, covering topics such as scene safety, emergency first aid, trauma, paediatric first aid, remote first aid, travel health.
I have had the pleasure of working with some wonderful organisations and people both here in the UK and overseas. I have successfully delivered training to clients including the BBC's National History Unit, Bloomberg, Sky, Amnesty International, UN, Human Rights Watch, X-fit Gym and many more.
My work experience has exposed me to a huge variety of incidents and injuries, often in stressful and challenging environments and this is where Hands on Heart came to fruition. After my own difficulties and challenges with real events, I have completed my time in the emergency services and returned home to Yorkshire to be able to be near and able to support my family.
With this, I have made it my goal to provide accessible and honest training to you. It is my mission to empower people and to equip them with the skills and confidence to be able to help when most needed and how to support themselves and each other afterwards.
I am a strong believer in supporting mental health awareness and this is integral to the training offered by us. I am also pleased to announce that in 2025 we will be offering the Level 3 in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (MHFA).

We are based in Sri Lanka and the training was tailored to exactly what we needed, in an accessible manner, and has been invaluable to our staff. We've already booked sessions for new team members and top-up training for the existing team. Would highly recommend.”
